Arrive at the legendary Fairlie Bakehouse, home to some of New Zealand's most famous meat pies. Collect your pre-ordered lunch (included in tour)—the steak and cheese is a Kiwi classic! The town is especially photogenic in autumn when trees lining the streets turn vibrant orange and Burkes Pass showcases spectacular fall colors.

Journey deeper into the Mackenzie Country, known for its stunning turquoise lakes and some of the darkest skies in the world. Your guide explains the region's unique geology and its designation as an International Dark Sky Reserve.

Stop at one of New Zealand's most iconic locations. Visit the Church of the Good Shepherd, a stone chapel built in 1935 as a memorial to Mackenzie Country pioneers. Capture stunning photos of the church framed by Lake Tekapo's brilliant turquoise waters and the Southern Alps beyond. From late November to early January, the lakeshore explodes with colorful wild lupins. Don't miss the nearby Sheepdog Statue, paying tribute to the faithful working dogs of the high country.

Stand at the edge of Lake Pukaki, the jewel of the Mackenzie region. This glacier-fed lake displays mesmerizing shades of turquoise and blue, created by "glacial flour"—fine rock particles ground by glaciers. On clear days, witness the stunning sight of Aoraki Mount Cook rising 3,724 meters above the lake's far shore, its snow-capped peak dominating the horizon. This is one of New Zealand's most photographed viewpoints.
