Stop at one of New Zealand's most iconic locations. Visit the Church of the Good Shepherd, a stone chapel built in 1935 as a memorial to Mackenzie Country pioneers. From late November to early January, the lakeshore explodes with colorful wild lupins. Don't miss the nearby Sheepdog Statue, paying tribute to the faithful working dogs of the high country.

This glacier-fed lake displays mesmerizing shades of turquoise and blue, created by "glacial flour"—fine rock particles ground by glaciers.
